What is YAPA?
YAPA is a home phone built for children. It plugs in, joins your Wi-Fi, and lets your child dial the people you've approved on a proper corded handset — no addictive screens, nothing to swipe, nothing to scroll.
What age is YAPA designed for?
YAPA is built for children aged 5 and up, 6 to 14, 7 to 99. Hell, it's for everyone.
Is YAPA like a smartphone?
No. YAPA doesn't browse the internet, run apps, or use AI. It makes and receives calls with the people you've approved, and that's it. Just the good stuff.
Is there a screen on the device anywhere?
There is no smart screen, just a small visual display to see who's calling and to browse your child's address book. YAPA is built around your child's voice and ear, not their eyes.
Does YAPA connect to the internet, run apps, or play games?
YAPA uses your home Wi-Fi purely to carry calls. There's no browser, no app store, and nothing on the handset for your child to get lost in.
Where should YAPA live in the house - does it need to stay in one place?
YAPA plugs in and connects over Wi-Fi, so it can go wherever suits your family.
Who is able to call my child on YAPA?
Only the numbers you've approved in the parent app. Nobody outside that list can get through.
How do I control who my child can call or be called by?
You build your child's approved contact list from the parent app - add a name and number, and they can call and be called. Nothing is added without you.
Can I set times when YAPA can and can't be used?
Yes. Set quiet hours in the app — school time, bedtime, dinner — and YAPA will hold calls until the window opens again.
Does YAPA still work during a power cut?
Like any Wi-Fi connected device, YAPA needs power and an internet connection to make or receive calls, including to 999 — so it won't work through a power or broadband outage.
How do I set up YAPA?
Plug YAPA in, connect it to your home Wi-Fi and scan the provided QR code to access the parent app, then add your child's approved contacts. And just like magic, the number is saved on their YAPA, ready to be called.
